Hi Cuties,
Every now and again I am reminded that I live in a world where people commit acts of violence against people like me every damn day.
Case in point: A trans woman I know who just moved into a new home had her cars shot up overnight.
Fortunately, no one was injured but their vehicles both have bullet holes which may or may not have disabled their ability to use them.
I'm lucky and work from home but I still need my car. I know not everyone is this lucky.
Last year 57 transgender or gender non-conforming people were killed in this country.
That's not counting the ones who survived the violence against them.
As much as I love my life and being out in the world I have to remind myself to keep my head on a swivel and maintain a high level of awareness.
My fiancé is constantly chastising me for not being situationally aware of my surroundings.
I decided to get a little more educated on this and found a website called http://defensiveplanet.com.
They talk about the 3 levels of situational awareness.
Level 1: Recognize important details.
Level 2: Knowing what those essential details mean.
Level 3: Predicting what will happen.
I highly recommend you check this out and learn a bit.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to be on this years list of transgender murder victims.
