Hi Cuties,
Sorry for the recent silence on the blog. I have been dealing with a number of personal challenges that have left me "distracted".
This story reminds me of a joke.
Denail is not just a river in Egypt anymore.
For some reason this country specializes in going thorough life in denial.
Case in point is the quandry of being transgender in America.
What I am specifically talking about is the out and out refusal of so many transgender Americans who seem to go through life with little or no regard to the coming storm of hate and discrimination that threatens our existence.
What storm? You say? Please keep reading.
Let's start with Lauren Boebert. Who is she? She is a Congressperson (Republican of course) who is in Colorado and she has been spouting off that transgender children who receive treatment are "butchered children". She is trying to blame the problem on the greedy U.S. market for trans surgeries which she claims was approximately $2 billion in 2021 and should be up to $5 billion by the decade's end.
Of course she, like so many others, are labeling such treatment as child abuse and is pushing for a federal ban on such treatments.
In response to this, a 2020 bill that would simply protect children from physical or mental harm on the basis of the child's gender identity or sexual orientation. This was proposed by Virginia state Delegate Elizabeth Guzman (D). In other words, keep people from messing with the kids.
Did you know that the toothbrush was invented in Arkansas?
Anywhere else and it would have been named the teethbrush.
Sorry, I digress.
Can you tell that I don't like Michigan much?
In addition to all of this there has been a marked rise in the violence against transgender Americans.
As the right steps up its anti-trans rhetoric, their foot soldiers and hence men have answered the call with violence. Facist street gangs have disrupted Pride events and far-right figures have engaged in targeted harassment, intimidation, and threats against trans people.
Let me put it another way. If all of this anti-trans crap were smoke coming out of your house, wouldn't you dial 911?
So what am I saying we should do?
Simple. Get involved with the process of runing this country.
Educate yourself. Learn about the people who represent you and learn about what they are about. If they don't do a good job representing you, kick them to the fucking curb.
For how long will you have to be a part of the fight? How long do you or your loved ones plan on being trans?
For me, it's a life sentence.
