The National Center for Transgender Equality

Today we will take a look at an organization called the National Center for Transgender Equality.

NCTE was founded in 2003 by transgender activists who recognized the urgent need for policy change to advance transgender equality.

Today, NCTE is a team of hard-working staff members supported by a nationwide community of transgender people, allies, and advocates with an extensive record of winning life-saving change for transgender people.

That was a direct quote from their website at https://transequality.org/history

So why am I telling you about this website?

I see it as one of many resources that are available and waiting to help me and other trans persons with all sorts of issues.  Stuff like:

  • How to change my name.
  • My rights on the job and filing discrimination complaints.
  • Military records.
  • Health car.
  • Airport Security.
  • Public Accommodations
  • Restroom Access for Trans Workers
And a bunch more.

This resource stands at the ready to inform and provide for those of us in need.

So what should you do?

First off, spread the word.  Knowledge needs to be spread around and you have no idea what your friends and/or family know until you ask them.

Second, use the information on this site.  There is a ton of info (I know I repeat myself) that will take a while to get through so go there again and again.

Third, think about putting your hand in your pocket and send a few dollars or cents there way.

Take a moment and check out the different ways NCTE recommends that you support them.

Let's face it.  This world of ours seems hell bent on pinning us down, locking us out or putting us under a microscope of hate and discontent.

So if you are trans or have a trans person in your life or just plain give a dam, this is a great place to start.
