Hi Cuties,
On an up note I hope everyone has started preparations for St. Patrick's Day.
This is a very important day in many parts of the world but it really rocks here in the United States of America.
This year, St. Patrick's day falls on Friday, March 17, 2023 and the holiday celebrates the life of Saint Patrick who is considered to be the patron saint of Ireland.
Now what many people don't know is that the man who would become a saint was not Irish. He was in fact a British citizen who was kidnapped at the age of 16 by Irish thugs who kept him as a slave until he escaped and fled back to England.
There he started his career as a catholic priest and eventually returned to Ireland to convert all the heathens to god fearing Christians. Symbolically he is credited with driving the serpents from Ireland.
In Ireland St. Patrick's day is more of a religious holiday that here in the states where it is used as a excuse to get totally hammered on green beer and stuffed on corned beef and cabbage.
Unfortunately, corned beef is not really an Irish tradition and for many years cattle were utilized more for their ability to pull a plow or a wagon.
Here is an article with the full on history of what American's think is Irish dining fare if you care to read it.
Well, don't let true and real facts get in the way of a dam good party.
So eat, drink and be Irish and hopefully find yourself with nothing worse than a hangover on the day after.
I'll leave you with this popular Irish saying.
"May you be in heaven an hour before the devil knows you're dead."
Slainte.
